Africa Focus Collection

The Africa Focus collection at the University of Wisconsin–Madison contains more than 3000 slides, 500 photographs, and 50 hours of sound from forty-five different countries. Over the course of his life, Jan Vansina contributed 298 photographs to the collection.

Jan Vansina Papers at Northwestern University

The Jan Vansina Papers at Northwestern University fill 136 boxes and span the years 1718-2010. The collection is made up of working files containing field notes, correspondence, photographs, maps, manuscripts, drafts, and more used by Vansina in his research, writing, and teaching during his over fifty years of professional activity. The original arrangement of his papers has been preserved.
